PUPPY PRESCHOOL

PUPPY DAYCARE

What is Puppy Preschool?

Our Puppy Preschool offers 4 or 6 week training and socialization curriculums designed for young puppies aged 8-20 weeks. Puppies this age are in a critical stage of development for their social and life skills. And, we know your life is busy so this program ensures consistency with training your puppy during the day, and teaching you the techniques to keep the momentum going.

Let us do the hard work for you, and enjoy a happy, thriving puppy at home!

The Puppy Preschool curriculum includes daily:

  • Outdoor potty training (potty on command)

  • Training in our private Puppy Preschool room

  • Sit, Down, Recall ("Come!"), crate training, leash walking, and greeting other dogs nicely

  • Safe play and socialization skills

  • One-on-one training time

  • Puppy playtime

  • 4-6 weeks of Puppy Preschool training

PLUS receive:

  • 2 puppy grooms

  • and Puppy Parent Coaching

Add an extra 2 weeks of Puppy Preschool training for a total of six weeks for a extra socialization and training to help make your pup well rounded and socialized.

What is Puppy Daycare?

Our Puppy Daycare program focuses on socialization of puppies.  We'll work on polite playtime, potty training, crate training, and socialization to help your puppy learn skills for everyday life.

  • Puppies under 16 weeks, must start in our Puppy Daycare program before moving up to our regular Dog Daycare program.

  • Puppies can start at 8 weeks old.

  • Puppies must attend at least once per week for minimum 4 weeks.

Our Puppy Daycare program includes:

  • Outdoor potty training

  • Learning to settle in a crate

  • Safe play and socialization skills

  • Puppy playtime

Which option is right for me?

Choosing the best puppy program depends on your commitment to training at home, budget, and personal goals for your puppy.

Puppy Preschool is much more intensive, and we do the hard work of training for you.

Puppy Daycare is a great option if you're able to and want to do more hands on training work yourself, and are looking for socialization rather than training.

Vaccination Requirements

Puppies must have their first Distemper/Parvovirus  vaccination at least 7 days prior to their first day of Preschool, and must be kept up to date during their time at Gus's Pet Resort.

While it used to be recommended that puppies not be socialized until after their third set of puppy vaccines at 16 weeks, research now shows us that waiting this long can be at the detriment of their social skills, and the risk of diseases is quite low if they have received their first or second set of vaccinations.

Why it's important to start socializing young

Research show that starting to socialize your puppy at 8 weeks helps them to develop better social skills and confidence, rather than waiting until they are 4 months or older to start socializing and training.  Socializing is great for puppies and is a preventative step against behavioural problems like fear and anxiety as they grow up.

Starting to train and reinforce good behaviours in your puppy while they're young, means that cute tolerable puppy behaviours (like mouthing) won't become an unbearable problem as they grow up. Training puppies from a young age helps create consistency for them and results in consistent behaviours at home.  Avoiding frustrations with your dog's behaviours helps develop your bond so you can enjoy your relationship, rather than feeling frustrated by your dog's behaviours.
